Modes

One file. The mode that fits the cargo.

All services

We do not force freight onto a single product. The shipment dictates the mode, including when that means changing continents.

Road freight

Road freight is the default for European industrial and commercial cargo. Full truckload (FTL) is used when the shipment fills the vehicle and you want a direct run without intermediate handling. Less-than-truckload (LTL) or groupage keeps cost aligned with volume when the cargo shares space. Helquad books the carrier, issues or obtains the CMR, and keeps status with a named coordinator until proof of delivery. ADR and oversized road moves are planned under special cargo, with permits and escorts in the same file rather than bolted on later.

Ocean freight

Ocean freight covers full container loads (FCL), less-than-container loads (LCL) and conventional or breakbulk pieces that do not fit a standard box. We book the sailing, arrange the bill of lading, and include the inland haul to or from the port so the shipper has one commercial conversation. Quotes are per sailing and lane; transit depends on the service string, not a fixed catalogue. Project pieces and heavy-lift ocean moves are surveyed before a firm rate. Carrier liability applies by default; additional cargo insurance can be arranged to the declared value.

Air freight

Air freight is used when the calendar is the constraint: spare parts, high-value goods, or production lines that cannot wait for ocean transit. Helquad quotes airport-to-airport or door-to-door, with road collection and delivery in the same instruction. We book capacity, prepare the air waybill, and keep exception handling with the coordinator on the file. Express versus standard product is chosen against cut-off times and cost, not as a marketing label. Dangerous goods by air follow IATA rules and may require a longer survey before booking.

Rail freight

Rail freight is booked where volume, distance and schedule favour it over pure road or air. Block trains and combined transport on European and Eurasian corridors suit recurring industrial flows and cost-sensitive continental moves. Helquad often places rail inside a multimodal string rather than selling it as a standalone product: terminal handling, last-mile road and documents stay in one file. Transit is competitive on long hauls but depends on slot availability and border procedures. We state that explicitly in the written quote before the cargo moves.

Multimodal

Multimodal freight forwarding means one contract and one coordinator across more than one mode—typically ocean plus road, air plus road, or rail plus road. We design the string so cost, transit and handling risk at each interface are explicit before the cargo moves. The shipper is not re-quoted at every hand-off. Documents follow the governing regime for each leg (bill of lading, AWB, CMR) while the commercial file remains single. This is the standard product for cross-continent shipments, not an exception reserved for large projects.

Special and project cargo

Special and project cargo covers oversized and heavy pieces, ADR dangerous goods, and temperature-controlled (reefer) shipments. Route surveys, permits, escorts and equipment selection are part of the file from the first quote, not an afterthought after booking. Helquad states what can and cannot be moved on a given lane before money changes hands. Transit is survey-led; complex industrial projects may need longer preparation than a standard FTL. Carrier liability and optional cargo insurance are documented the same way as on regular modes.

How we work

From request to delivery, in four steps

  1. 01

    Request

Origin, destination, cargo type, weight or dimensions, and the window you need. Form, email or phone.

  2. 02

    Quote

A written proposal the same business day: mode, transit indication, documents and the commercial terms.

  3. 03

    Execution

We book the carrier, prepare CMR or bill of lading, and handle permits when the cargo requires them.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Status updates until proof of delivery. Exceptions are owned by the coordinator on the file.

Why Helquad

Built for shippers who come back

This site exists so a referred buyer can verify who we are. We do not inflate figures we do not have. We publish the process, the documents and the contact path.

Coordinator on the file

One person owns the shipment. You are not passed between unread shared inboxes.

Mode-agnostic

If the cargo needs three continents and two modes, that is the plan. We do not sell a fleet; we sell a completed movement.

Documented by default

CMR or equivalent transport document, cargo insurance, and a paper trail you can hand to finance and compliance.

Reply you can measure

Complete requests receive a response the same business day. If we cannot move it, we say so.

Coverage

Europe as the operating base. The rest of the map on demand.

European road and intermodal lanes are the daily work. Ocean and air extend the same file to Asia, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa when the cargo requires it.

  • European road FTL and LTL
  • Ocean FCL / LCL via main ports
  • Air freight for time-critical cargo
  • Rail and multimodal combinations

FAQ

Questions we expect from a first file

What types of cargo does Helquad forward?

General cargo, palletised freight, full loads, groupage, containers, air freight and special cargo including oversized, ADR and temperature-controlled.

Is Helquad a freight forwarder or a trucking company?

Helquad is a freight forwarder. We plan and book movements through a vast network of verified carriers. That gives us a wide range of solutions on every lane and keeps us independent.

How fast can I get a freight forwarding quote?

Complete requests receive a written reply the same business day. Complex project cargo may need a longer survey; we tell you if that is the case.

Is international freight insured with Helquad?

Movements are covered by the carrier’s standard liability (CMR on road, equivalent regimes on other modes). Additional cargo insurance can be arranged to the commercial value you declare.

Which shipping documents does Helquad issue?

Typically CMR for road, bill of lading for ocean, air waybill for air, plus commercial invoice handling and packing lists as provided by the shipper.

Do you arrange customs brokerage?

Yes, where the lane requires it. We coordinate with a licensed customs broker and keep formalities in the same file as the transport instructions.

Where does Helquad move freight?

European road and intermodal lanes are the daily work. Ocean and air extend the same file to Asia, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa when the cargo requires it.

Can you move a shipment across several continents?

Yes. Multimodal files (for example ocean plus road, or air plus road) are a standard product, not an exception.

Have a lane to cover?

Send origin, destination and cargo. You get a written proposal, not a callback loop.
